PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the accuracy in estimation of atmospheric pressure regardless of a crank angle in start timing. ! SOLUTION: An engine control device 5 is for an outboard motor which includes: an engine 11; an intake system 4 supplying combustion air to the engine 11; an intake pressure detector 604 detecting internal pressure in the intake system 4; and a generator 131 generating electric power with rotation of the engine 11. When the generator 131 starts generating electric power by cranking for starting the engine 11, the engine control device is activated by the generated electric power, acquires a peak value of the internal pressure in the intake system 4 during the cranking from a detection result of the intake pressure detector 604 and estimates atmospheric pressure based on the peak value. !
