PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device by which a user can concentrate on telephone conversation and the like while a power source of the display device is turned on. ! SOLUTION: The display device comprises: a liquid crystal panel 6 for displaying an image; a loudspeaker 10 for outputting sounds; a control unit 46 for respectively controlling brightness of the image displayed on the liquid crystal panel 6 and a volume of sounds outputted from the loudspeaker 10; and a remote control light receiving part 48 for receiving an operation of a user. The control unit 46 can be switched between a normal mode and a silent mode based on the operation of the user received by the remote control light receiving part 48. In the normal mode, the image is displayed on the liquid crystal panel 6 at the brightness set by the user, and the sounds are outputted from the loudspeaker 10 at the sound volume set by the user.
