PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for an electric reel which suppresses heat generation in the electric reel even if a drag mechanism operates in the electric reel. ! SOLUTION: A control system 90 is a device for controlling a motor 12 of an electric reel 100. The control system 90 includes a reel control unit 23 having a spool speed detection unit 68, a drag operation detection unit 66, and a first control unit 64a. The spool speed detection unit 68 detects a rotation speed of the spool 10. The drag operation detection unit 66 detects operation of a drag mechanism 44 when a rotation load of an adjusted rotation load or more in a fishing line unwinding direction acts on the spool 10.
