PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate a living situation based on which, for example, safety of a resident can be checked.SOLUTION: Included are a step (S1) of measuring an energy usage of an entire household 9 using a smart meter 1, a step (S2) of calculating a sum total of energy usages within an immediately previous predetermined period of time on the basis of a result of measurement, a step (S3) of calculating a short-term variation width representing an extent of a variance in the value of the sum total of plural energy usages within an immediately previous short period of time, a step (S4) of calculating a long-term variation width representing an extent of a variance in the value of the sum total of plural energy usages within the immediately previous predetermined period, a step (S5) of determining as a long-term variation width threshold an X percentile value in an array in ascending or descending order of values of plural short-term variation widths within an immediately previous long period, and a step (S6) of estimating a living situation by comparing the value of the long-term variation width with the long-term variation width threshold. |
