PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas barrier film excellent in gas barrier properties (especially in vapor barrier property.) ! SOLUTION: There is provided a gas barrier film 4 in which a metal oxide layer is provided on a film substrate 1, wherein the metal oxide layer is obtained by disposing a sol-gel coating layer 3 of a metal oxide polymer composed of a metal alkoxide represented by the following general formula (I) which has a weight average molecular weight of 200 or more and 1000000 or less on a vapor deposition layer 2 made of a metal oxide. In the general formula, (I) R1nM(OR2)m, R1 and R2 each individually represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; M represents a metal atom; n represents an integer of 0 to 4; m represents an integer of 1 to 4 and the number of bonds with the metal atom M. !
