The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an expression or activation inhibitor of Tpl2 for preventing or treating renal cell carcinoma. According to the present invention, when expression or activation of Tpl2 is inhibited in renal cell carcinoma, proliferation of cancer cells, anoikis resistance, cell adhesive ability, cell transport ability, and permeation ability are hindered. When transplanting the renal cell carcinoma, in which expression of the Tpl2 is inhibited, to a mouse, growth of tumor and metastasis to lung in kidney of the mouse are inhibited so that the expression or activation inhibitor of Tpl2 is used for preventing or treating renal cell carcinoma.
