COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING OR TREATING ANGIOGENESIS RELATED DISEASES COMPRISING EXTRACT FROM LOTUS LEAF

The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating diseases caused by angiogenesis, including a Nelumbo nucifera (lotus leaf) extracts as an active ingredient. More specifically, in the present invention, the lotus leaf extract is extracted by one solvent selected from the group consisting of water, low carbon number (C1-C4) alocohol, hexane, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate and a mixture solvent thereof. A study for preventing angiogenesis by using the lotus leaf extract found that the lotus leaf extract regardless of solvents inhibits angiogenesis caused by a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) according to the level of concentration. As a result of the study, the lotus leaf extract can be used as a material for inhibiting angiogenesis.
