Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a user interface having a header or banner that displays information about a current context to help a user to gather information. In one example, the user interface displays information of a datacenter's health and status, including alerts that have been triggered. The user interface displays a context banner that tracks information gathered and actions taken within the context of the alert, and provides aggregate information or detailed information about the alert.

1. A method for displaying a user interface of an application for managing virtual machines of a computing system, the method comprising:
displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) having a first view for a first object, wherein the first object is associated with a virtual machine; generating a context associated with the first object and comprising one or more content objects within the context; receiving an indication, from a user, to navigate to a second view of the GUI for a first content object; generating, by operation of one or more processing units, the second view comprising a header having information about the context associated with the first object; and displaying the second view on a display device.
