[Problem] Provided are a functional microbial material, which is gentle on the environment and improves the quality of crops, and a method for manufacturing fermentation products. [Solution] The present invention relates to: a microbial material, which is obtained by fermenting a fermentation starting material comprising a plant-based starting material and an animal-based starting material using a group of microbes comprising multiple biological species of thermophilic microbes and which reduces soil/water quality contamination and restricts the generation of warming gases while improving plant function, particularly contributing to the expression of biophylaxis-related genes and heat shock resistance genes and to increases in antioxidant components; and a method for manufacturing a fermentation product. Strengthening of plant quality is promoted in a form that does not rely on gene recombination using a group of microbes that have an environmental remediation function or plant elicitor function. Impact on the natural environment is maintained/repaired during normal production activities.
