The device has a driving unit that rotatably drives a knife carrier that is provided with radially projecting knives. An adjusting device angularly adjusts a fixed base against knife carrier, and a manually operable locking unit (9) locks knife carrier relative to base. A manually operable switch unit connects locking unit to an external power source (30). The locking unit is unlocked and locked through connection with power source in respective switching positions of switching device. An energy flow triggering switch (22) is provided between power source and locking unit.
