A process transmitter housing assembly (40) includes a housing (42) and a cover assembly (44) including a cover chassis (50) and a transparent cover piece (52). The cover chassis (50) includes a cover flange 66 extending inward from a perimeter of the cover chassis (50). Internal threads of the cover chassis (50) threadedly engage external threads of the housing (42). The transparent cover piece (52) is mechanically clamped between the cover flange (66) and a surface of the housing nearest the cover flange (66) when the cover chassis (50) is threadedly secured to the housing (52).
