Provided is a coil, the performance of which is improved because, when bending a flat coil, a bent portion can be reduced, and also provided is a method for manufacturing the coil. Provided is a coil (5) constructed in such a way that a flat coil (20) is formed by stacking at least ring-shaped first coil layer (11) and second coil layer (12) each having a pair of line portions (11A (12A)) facing in a first direction and a pair of end portions (11B (12B)) facing in a second direction intersecting with the first direction and is bent at least on the side of one of the end portions. The flat coil (20) is an α-winding coil and bent from the side of the second coil layer (12) toward the side of the first coil layer (11). At the end portion on the bending side, a first end surface (11a) of the first coil layer (11) in the second direction and a second end surface (12a) of the second coil layer (12) in the second direction are positioned on the same plane.
