The purpose of the invention is to provide a biaxially oriented polyester film having exceptional moldability and uniformity of properties in the widthwise direction, said film being suitably used in molding and optics applications. This biaxially oriented polyester film has a stress at 10% elongation in the machine direction at 150°C of 5 to 30 MPa, thermal shrinkage in the machine direction at 150°C of 5% or less, and a maximum film orientation angle at a width of 1000 mm of 20° or less (said angle being the smaller of the angles formed betwen the main axis of orientation and the transverse direction or the film MD direction). |
