COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE MORUS ALBA ROOT EXTRACT FOR LOWERING BLOOD CHOLESTEROL LEVELS

The present invention relates to a composition containing a Morus alba extract as an active ingredient for lowering blood cholesterol level, and more specifically, to a composition including Morus alba extract containing mulberroside A and/or oxyresveratrol as an active ingredient. The mulberroside A and/or the oxyresveratrol refined from the Morus alba extract are/is proven to inhibit activity of 3-Hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-CoA (HMG-CoA) and squalene synthase. Therefore, the mulberroside A and/or the oxyresveratrol can lower the blood cholesterol level and thus can be used for preventing and treating vascular diseases.
