A surgical saw has a blade 100 coupled to a blade mount 204 partly through an interference fit for efficient transfer of oscillating drive to the saw blade. The blade mount comprises two lateral channels (defined by side walls 212 and top walls [216, figure 3]) which terminate at the rear in closed vertical walls 222 arranged at an angle of preferably thirty degrees to the longitudinal axis of the saw such that their planes intersect forwards of the axis of rotation of the saw blade. Two prongs 114 at the rear of the blade have matching angled walls 116 to engage with those of the blade mount. A locking member 230 is spring biased to engage a matching aperture 120 in the saw blade. The rear face 232 of the locking member is bevelled to push the saw blade to the rear; its front face 234 is a cam surface. Optional biased pressure plates (236, figure 6) in the blade mount may push the blade against the top wall of the channel. |
