Provided are: a bed exit sensor with a novel structure that is capable of detecting bed exit of a user before bed exit is completed and with good precision; and a bed exit detection method. The bed exit sensor is provided with: a sitting position-detecting means (30), S8 ~ S10, for detecting a user's sitting position on the basis of detection values from a pressure sensor (18) that is set on a bed (12); a foot movement-detecting means (30), S3 ~ S5, for detecting the movement of the user's feet on the basis of detection values from the pressure sensor (18); and a means (30), S3 ~ S5, S8 ~ S10, for detecting the user's bed exit behavior on the condition that sitting or foot movement is detected within the bed exit-intending region (17). |
