Thermoelectric generators

A thermoelectric generator (TEG) comprises at least two thermoelectric stages (TEG 'A' and TEG 'B') formed of different materials. The thermoelectric stages are thermally in series but electrically independent. Maximum power point trackers connected to respective TEGs are used to adjust the mid-point temperatures between adjacent TEGs using a diode and thereby deliver the maximum power for a given temperature. The high temperature source may be the exhaust gas from a vehicles internal combustion engine.
