Fastening strips.-In the " rip-up " type of fastener, the interlocking elements 3, which are engaged and disengaged by a slider, are attached to a fabric strip 1 which is inelastic longitudinally and elastic transversely. The fabric strip may have transverse indiarubber threads, and may be elastic across only a portion of its width. The strip, as shown in Fig. 4, may be of indiarubber with an inelastic cord 2 embedded at the fastening edge and a piece of inelastic fabric 5 at the other. In another modification, a strip of rubber e, Fig. 6, strengthened at one edge is at the other sandwiched between the edges of a folded inelastic strip i. The inelastic strip may surround the cord 2, or a pair of cords may be arranged one at each side of the folded strip. |
