Disclosed are a driver circuit for a light-emitting device and a method for operating same, the driver circuit controlling an output voltage which satisfies the maximum forward voltage among the forward voltages of light-emitting diode strings so that the output voltage can be provided to the light-emitting diode strings. The driver circuit controls the output voltage by detecting sensing voltages corresponding to currents flowing through the respective light-emitting diode strings and determining the sensing voltages.
