Disclosed is a method for preparing high purity aluminum chloride and metal zinc, the method comprising the steps of: melting zinc chloride; subjecting the zinc chloride to a reaction with the addition of 1-5 parts by weight of a mixture of hydrochloric acid hydrazine and ammonium chloride, which are additives, with respect to the zinc chloride; and subjecting the zinc chloride to a reaction with the addition of aluminum powder at the equivalent ratio with respect to the zinc chloride.
