An observation device comprises: an imaging unit (220); a light source unit (10); a light quantity adjustment unit (110); and an image processing unit (150). The imaging unit (220) includes a plurality of types of elements for generating a first signal when receiving light within a sensitivity range. The imaging unit (220) generates image data based on a subject image. The light source unit (10) contains a plurality of light sources which emit narrow spectrum light with mutually different wavelengths. The wavelengths of the light source unit (10) are set so that the sensitivity range of each of the plurality of types of elements contained in imaging unit (220) will encompass the wavelength of at least one narrow spectrum light. The light quantity adjustment unit (110) individually adjusts the light amount of each of the plurality of light sources. The image processing unit (150) generates display data representing a color image on the basis of the image data.
