[Problem] To provide an elastic wave device such that, by using a rotated Y-cut quartz substrate provided with an Euler rotation angle different from before, temperature characteristics having an optimum predetermined phase speed for high-frequency oscillation and offering temperature characteristics with a good cubic curve. [Solution] An elastic wave device (11) is provided with: a quartz substrate (12) which is cut out from a quartz crystal having three-dimensional crystal orientations of X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis while rotating the Y-axis and Z-axis about the X-axis and by a rotation angle defined by the Euler angles (&phgr;, &thetas;, Ψ) of the right-hand system; and at least one excitation electrode (13) for exciting a plate wave on the surface of the quartz substrate (12). The quartz substrate (12) is cut in the range of rotation angles of &phgr; = 0 ± 10°, &thetas; = 110° to 140°, and Ψ = 30 to 50°. The plate wave such that the primary temperature coefficient α × 10-6 is in the range of -1.0 < α < + 1.0 and the secondary temperature coefficient &bgr; × 10-8 is in the range of -1.0 < &bgr; < + 1.0 upon Taylor expansion at 25°C is selected for vibration mode. |
