METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REGULATING FREQUENT CELL RESELECTIONS BY IDLE-MODE MOBILE DEVICES

Disclosed are systems and methods for regulating frequent system reselections by idle-mode mobile devices. In one aspect, a femtocell may be configured to receive a registration request from a mobile device and to determine whether one or more other registration requests were previously received from the mobile device. When one or more other registration requests were previously received from the mobile device, the mobile device is registered with the femtocell. When no other registration requests were previously received from the mobile device, the registration request from the mobile device is rejected. Rejecting the registration request from the mobile device may include redirecting the mobile device to a different radio access system or prohibiting the mobile device to repeat registration requests to the femtocell for a period of time.
