The present invention relates to an organic electroluminescent element and a manufacturing method thereof. The organic electroluminescent element includes: a first substrate; a thin-film transistor formed on the upper part of the first substrate; first electrodes individually patterned on the pixels on the upper part of the thin-film transistor; organic light emitting layers sequentially formed on the upper part of first electrodes; and second electrodes. A first light absorbing later is formed on the upper part of the thin-film transistor to block the light emitting from the organic light emitting layers. Accordingly, the present invention can ensure the optical reliability of the organic electroluminescent element employing the oxide thin film transistor.
