A seat 10, particularly for use in a small urban vehicle, comprises a seat back 14 of moulded composite, for example recycled, material and a base unit 12 comprising two laterally-spaced upstanding arms 46 and fixings, for example runners 40, attachable to a vehicle. Upstanding arms 46 are attached to seat back 14 using a vertically distributed connection, for example a plurality of vertically-spaced bolts 48, an adhesive bond or by embedding arms 46 in seat back 14. Seat back 14 may be pivotally adjustable. A seat base 16 of moulded composite material may be attached to base unit 12. Base unit 12 is at least partially metallic and may also comprise a moulded composite material. The fibres of regions of seat base 16 and seat back 14 may be unidirectionally oriented. A headrest 36 may be supported on upright reinforcements (26, 28, Figure 2) at the rear of seat back 14. |
