The present invention relates to the technical field of communications. Disclosed is a streaming media adaptive transmission method, comprising: a user equipment (UE) determines in real time the transmission rate of data to be transmitted, or determines the transmission rate according to a negotiation request comprising a transmission rate option provided by a base station; the UE transmits to the base station a rate guarantee request comprising the transmission rate; and after receiving a transmission rate availability acknowledgement message returned by the base station, the UE requests from a data transmitting end the data to be transmitted and having a code rate corresponding to the transmission rate. Also disclosed are a UE, a base station, and a streaming media adaptive transmission system. Through real-time negotiation between a UE and a base station in an embodiment of the present invention, the base station ensures a transmission rate index required by the UE, and the UE requests corresponding content according to the negotiated rate index, thus ensuring streaming media service experience of users in a wireless environment. |
