A wireless communication system comprises: base stations each of which forms a cell that is identified by a cell identifier; a geographic information storage unit that stores geographic information elements indicating the geographic features of the positions where the cells are formed; a cell existence detection unit that detects that user equipment having existed in a first cell starts existing in a second cell different from the first cell; a cell information acquisition unit that, when the cell existence detection unit detects the start of existing in the second cell, acquires a second cell identifier corresponding to the second cell; and a geographic information determination unit that reads, on the basis of the second cell identifier, the geographic information element of the second cell, which corresponds to the second identifier, from the geographic information storage unit. |
