312,672. Tecca, C., and Del Turco, C. R. May 30, 1928, [Convention date]. Cork substitutes; compositions.-A plastic cork product is obtained by treating cork with an alkali in solution. Before hardening, which takes place by evaporation, there may be added vegetable or mineral dust, fibres, &c. Preferably an excess of alkali is added to the cork, and after the mixture has been allowed to stand the excess is neutralized by more cork or other substance. The composition may be provided with metallic reinforcement. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that oil, grease, soap, wax, resins, viscous albuminoid substances, gelatine, rubber, &c., may be added before hard. ening. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
