A control method and device for a release control connection of an RRC connection. The method comprises: when all the data of a user equipment (UE) is shunted to a wireless local area network (WLAN), and a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a radio access network device is maintained, the radio access network device in a cellular network receiving first information from the UE, the first information being used for the radio access network device to determine whether to release the RRC connection with the UE or not; according to the first information, determining whether to release the radio resource control (RRC) connection with the UE or not, and if so, then releasing the RRC connection with the UE; otherwise, continuously maintaining the RRC connection with the UE.
