<p>Disclosed is an accessory mount (1, fig.2) for a firearm (4, fig.2) with a Picatinny rail (5, fig.2). The mount includes a chassis (2, fig.2) with one or more locking devices (6, fig.1). Each locking device 6 includes a lever 31 with a handle 32 that moves a plate 33 into engagement with the dovetail rail to clamp the mount to the rail. Each locking device 6 also includes an actuator 44 which is slidable along the handle 32 and which not only moves the plate into engagement with the rail but includes a self-tightening mechanism in which a nut 43 and bolt 37 arrangement are tightened by movement of the lever from a first position to a second position while at the same time bringing the plate into engagement with the rail. Each locking device also includes an automatic locking feature for locking the lever in position and a mechanism for preventing accidental operation of the actuator. In use, to tighten the nut 43and hence the tightness of the mount, the spring biased actuator 44 is pushed forward so that finger 50 engages with one of the recesses 47 on the nut.</p> |
