1. An illumination system for generating light, comprising:
at least one lamp assembly configured to generate light having a variable color; a controller for controlling the lamp assembly; and a user input device coupled to the controller; wherein the controller is configured to: receive, via the user input device, data that relates to a shape of a path between a start color point and an end color point in a color space; calculate coordinates of a set of color points along the path from the start color point to the end color point; and generate a sequence of color control signals for the lamp assembly based on the set of color points.
