In an embodiment, there is provided a video processing component comprising a compensation engine configured to generate pixels of a first video frame from a second video frame based at least in part on specified pixel motion; and an access buffer configured to store pixel data corresponding to pixels of the second video frame for reference by the compensation engine, wherein the pixel data is stored by the access buffer at different vertical resolutions depending on vertical distances of the pixels corresponding to the pixel data from a target pixel that is indicated by the compensation engine.

1. A method for synthesizing, from a first video frame and a second video frame, a third video frame, wherein the third video frame acts as an intermediate frame between the first video frame and the second video frame, the method comprising:
based on vertical distances of pixels of the first video frame from a target pixel of the first video frame, buffering pixel data corresponding to the pixels of the first video frame at different vertical resolutions; based on vertical distances of pixels of the second video frame from a target pixel of the second video frame, buffering pixel data corresponding to the pixels of the second video frame at different vertical resolutions; based on an estimate of a movement of an image section from the first video frame to the second video frame, generating a motion vector; and based on one or more of (i) the motion vector, (ii) the buffered pixel data corresponding to the pixels of the first video frame, and (iii) the buffered pixel data corresponding to the pixels of the second video frame, synthesizing a target pixel of the third video frame.
