The present invention relates to a device and a method for controlling battery cooling for an eco-friendly vehicle. More specifically, the device and the method enable a backup control to operate a cooling fan motor when there is a failure in a CAN communication by newly arranging a motor controller for controlling battery cooling and control elements of a BMS. According to the present invention, the cooling fan motor controller and the BMS are connected to each other through a CAN communication so that only control requirements can be transmitted from the BMS to the motor controller for cooling, and a speed control unit for the cooling fan motor, a motor operation control unit and a backup control unit, which receives backup power to instruct the control requirements for the cooling fan motor controller when there is a failure in the CAN communication, are integrated in the cooling fan motor controller, thereby stably controlling the cooling fan motor for cooling a battery. |
