564,644. Water heaters. WATKINS, A. E. March 2, 1943, No. 3435. [Class 64 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A storage water heater comprises an electric heating resistance 1 within an open-ended copper cylinder 3 which facilitates convection circulation within the container 6. The cylinder 3 is of copper and is double walled, the enclosed space being evacuated to prevent conduction of heat outwards. The inner walls of the enclosed space are coated with nickel, cadmium, chromium or tin to render the copper impervious and also to provide a reflecting surface. Alternatively, the cylinder 3 may be of glass. The apparatus may be gas heated, in which case, the cylinder 3 surrounds the gas flue.
