1. A method for diagnosing a head-and-neck cancer in a subject, the method comprising:
(a) contacting a biological sample obtained from a subject with a binding agent that specifically binds to S100A7 polypeptide, the biological sample comprising one or more cells from a head or neck tissue; and (b) detecting in the sample an amount of S100A7 polypeptide that binds to the binding agent, and comparing: (i) the level of S100A7 polypeptide that is detected in the sample from the subject; and (ii) the level of expression of S100A7 polypeptide in a corresponding control sample; and (c) diagnosing a head-and-neck cancer in the subject when an increase in S100A7 polypeptide relative to the corresponding control level is detected. |
