METHOD FOR PROVIDING MESSAGE SERVICE BASED ON RECEIVER'S PROFILE

Provided is a method of providing a message service which is performed through a message converting server. The method of providing a message service includes the steps of: (a) generating and maintaining a recipient profile database including information about recipient identification, a recipient telephone number matched with the information about recipient identification, information about caller identification matched with the information about recipient identification, and a reception setting record matched with the information about caller identification; (b) receiving a communications message from a message transmission server, where the communications message is to be transmitted from a caller terminal identified with the information about the caller identification to a recipient terminal identified with the recipient telephone number; and (c) executing at least one of first to third modes based on the reception setting record, where the communications message is converted into an instant message in the first mode, the communications message is not converted into an instant message in the second mode, and it is deferred in the third mode to determine whether the communications message is converted into an instant message. The reception setting record includes at least one of: whether to receive the communications message after the communications message is converted into the instant message; when to receive one of the communications message and the instant message into which the communications message is converted; where to receive one of the communications message and the instant message into which the communications message is converted; and contents to be received through one of the communications message and the instant message into which the communications message is converted.
