The present invention relates to a contact combustion type gas sensor for detecting a combustible gas and a method of manufacturing the gas sensor, and more particularly, to a gas sensor having a simple structure and is capable of efficiently detecting a low concentration gas with low power consumption and a method of manufacturing the same. Thus, the contact combustion type gas sensor according to the present invention includes: a detection device contacting the combustible gas and emitting heat by the supplied current; an electrode disposed on each of both side surfaces of the detection device to supply the current to the detection device; a membrane disposed on a lower end of each of the detection device and the electrode; and a silicone substrate disposed on a lower end of the membrane and of which a portion is etched.
