The device has a transparent support (1) comprising a focusing device (2) for positioning a head fixing unit of a multi-stranded sling. The focusing device is connected to a measurement evaluation system at an application angle (alpha) that is formed by two distant strands (3) of the sling when the sling is placed in tension by a lifting device. A matching table (4) indexes a maximum mass of the sling, strands of the sling, a color code in case of a textile sling or a sheet steel and a diameter of a cable sling or a chain based on the application angle to validate a choice of the sling. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a choice of a multi-stranded sling that is utilized for lifting a load to be lifted by a lifting device. |
