The invention concerns a crossmember (10) of a motor vehicle dashboard (1), said crossmember (10) being formed from a profile member (11) having a closed profile, the walls of the profile member (11) defining an internal cavity (12), characterised in that it comprises at least one airbag (20) disposed inside the cavity (12) facing an opening (14) formed in one wall of the profile member (11), and a closing panel totally blocking said opening (14), said closing panel being shaped to allow the deployment of the airbag (20) outside the profile member (11). The invention also concerns a motor vehicle comprising a dashboard crossmember (10) according to the invention, the crossmember (10) being oriented such that the closing panel is positioned facing the torso of a seated passenger. |
