A liquid crystal display device with little deterioration according to the use thereof and having high reliability is obtained. A polymer (P) having a specific structure represented by the formula (1A) is included in a liquid crystal aligning agent. (In formula (1A), R^2 is a divalent organic group, X^1 is an aromatic heterocycle containing nitrogen; Q^1 is a nitrogen atom, a carbon atom or a silicon atom, Y^1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms; when Q^1 is the nitrogen atom, t = 2 and s = 0, when Q^1 is the silicon atom, t = 3 and s = 0, and when Q^1 is the carbon atom, t is 2 or 3, and s = 3-t). |
