The present invention is directed to alternate solvent systems for polyethersulfone, polyamideimide, polyether imide, polyimide, and/or polyamic acid binder solutions. The present invention provides stable binder solutions equivalent or superior to current binder solvent solutions.

1. A binder solution comprising polyethersulfone, polyamideimide, polyether imide, polyimide, polyamic acid or mixtures thereof, and one or more solvent;
wherein the one or more solvent comprises a) acetoacetamides; b) guanidines; c) piperidones; or d) a mixture of two or more solvents selected from acetoacetamides, lactones, guanidines, piperidones, and acetoacetates.
