PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal medium comprising a liquid crystal mixture, which operates even at an extremely high temperature and at an extremely low temperature, which as well as has a short response time and an improved reliable behavior, particularly, which has no or extremely reduced image sticking after a long-time operation.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal medium has negative dielectric anisotropy and comprises at least one compound expressed by formula (I). The liquid crystal medium is used in an active matrix display based on a VA, PS-VA, PALC, FFS or IPS effect. In the formula, Rand Reach independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and a represents 0 or 1. |
