PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an isosorbide-containing polyester which has superior resin quality responding to the market needs by an efficient and economical continuous method.SOLUTION: The present invention relates a polyester produced by a method which comprises the steps of: (a) obtaining a homogeneous aqueous solution of isosorbide; (b) supplying the homogeneous aqueous solution in the step (a) to a reactor; (c) supplying glycol (which may contain or may not contain isosorbide) and a dicarboxylic acid into the aqueous solution in the step (a) or the reactor in the step (b) before, during and/or after the step (b); (d) esterifying the reactor contents at a temperatures and a pressure enough to perform esterification and optionally in the presence of a suitable catalyst; (e) forming a prepolymer; and (f)producing a polyester by polycondensing the prepolymer at a temperatures and a pressure enough to perform polycondensation in the presence of a suitable catalyst. |
