PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique, wherein an artificial induction technique of immunological tolerance against self or foreign antigen overcomes autoimmune disease, transplantation-related disorder, allergic responses, an immunological rejection of a therapeutic protein, and the like.SOLUTION: T cell epitopes (Tregitopes) that are capable of binding to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules and engaging and activating natural T regulatory cells (TReg) are identified from a general self-protein, such as a constant region of IgG. The selective engagement and activation of Treg through the use of Tregitopes and Tregitope-antigen fusions are therapeutically valuable as a means of treatment for any disease or condition characterized by the presence of an unwanted immune response. Using as a vaccine delivery vector a Tregitope modified Fc which has been modified to no longer bind to MHC and Treg enables an efficient targeting of a vaccine antigen. |
