PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber treatment agent for high-pressure water stream intertwisting which can suppress occurrence of scum by reducing foaming in a process of forming a nonwoven fabric by a high-pressure water stream intertwisting method and a short fiber using it.SOLUTION: A fiber treatment agent for high-pressure water stream intertwisting contains a polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester sulfate salt (A) and one or both of an ingredient (B) and an ingredient (C), and the weight ratio of the sulfate salt (A) is 10-90 wt.%. The fiber treatment agent can suppress occurrence of scum by reducing foaming in a process of forming a nonwoven fabric by a high-pressure water stream intertwisting method.
