摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable implementing high speed AF operation and pick up a high quality image with less disturbance of the image due to hunting or the like.SOLUTION: An imaging device includes focus vicinity determination means determining whether a focus lens is in the vicinity of a focal position on the basis of an AF evaluation value obtained by extracting a high frequency component from an image signal output from an imaging element and focus lens position information. The focus vicinity determination means obtains an approximation straight line based on a plurality of AF evaluation values acquired before the number of AF evaluation values reaches a predetermined number stored whenever the AF evaluation value is acquired, and determines a time point at which an inclination of the approximation straight line changes from an increment to a decrement as vicinity of the focal position. Control means executes a drive control to continuously move the focus lens, and switches a control method from the drive control for continuously moving the focus lens to a control such that a wobbling operation is executed to slightly drive the focus lens if the focus vicinity determination means determines that the focus lens is in the vicinity of the focal position, thereby executing autofocus operation.</p>
