PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device that is compact and relatively shortens a discharge time of a capacitor.SOLUTION: A lighting device 20 includes a converter circuit 3 that has a switching element Q1 and converts an input voltage to generate an output voltage, and a control circuit 5. A capacitor C1 is connected in parallel on an input side of the converter circuit 3, and a capacitor C2 is connected in parallel on an output side. A capacity of the capacitor C1 is set lower than a capacity of the capacitor C2. A discharge circuit 15 is disposed between a high potential side of the capacitor C1 and a high potential side of the capacitor C2. The control circuit 5 has a monitoring section for monitoring a voltage across the capacitor C2. The discharge circuit 15 automatically discharges an electrical charge stored in the capacitor C2 when the input voltage of the converter circuit 3 becomes lower than the output voltage. The control circuit 5 continues controlling the switching element Q1 until the end voltage reaches a predetermined voltage set beforehand. |
