PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent damage to a scraper of a developing device.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a developer storage chamber 63A that accommodates a developer and includes a detection surface 68 therein; a toner density sensor 67 that detects a remaining amount of the developer via the detection surface 68; a screw feeder 64A that is rotated inside the developer storage chamber 63A to stir the developer; a scraper 66 that is attached to the screw feeder 64A and is moved in association with the rotation of the screw feeder 64A in the direction of rotation thereof to be brought into contact with the detection surface 68; a developing roller 61 that is rotated in the regular direction while carrying the developer during development; a stepping motor 77 that rotates the screw feeder 64A and developing roller 61 in conjunction with each other; and a control unit 5 that drives the stepping motor 77 in reverse rotation in a direction of reverse rotation in which the developing roller 61 is rotated in a reverse direction during non-development, and stops the reverse direction drive at a stop position in front of a position at which the scraper 66 is brought into contact with the detection surface 68. |
