PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a drive frequency to an oscillation mirror. ! SOLUTION: An optical scanner detects the amplitude of damping oscillation of an oscillation mirror 10 with a detection coil 121. A control circuit 204 determines a drive frequency corresponding to an oscillation period when the amplitude of the damping oscillation is reduced to below a predetermined threshold (or the amplitude of the damping oscillation is substantially matched with the predetermined threshold).
