An optical disc information device reproduces and/or records information from or onto an optical disc which has a groove track and which is capable of recording information on the land portion and the groove portion in the groove, the optical disc information device comprising: a laser light source; an object lens; a transmittance limiting element; a splitting element; a light detector; a central amplifier; at least two end amplifiers; a gain controller; an adder; a playback signal processing unit; and a control signal processing unit. The transmittance limiting element includes a first central region and at least two first end regions sandwiching the first central region, and, with respect to the light flux emitted from a laser light source, attenuates at least the light passing through the first end regions more than the light passing through the first central region.
